Dear Educator,

Welcome to the Northwest Arctic Borough School District and Northwest Arctic Education Association!

On behalf of NAEA, I want to extend my appreciation to you on choosing the Northwest Arctic Borough School District to either begin or continue your career as an educator. I also want to thank you for your membership and support. I believe a strong Association is a vital component of student learning. Our teachers and students deserve an Association that is collaborative, solution-oriented, and that regularly engages with its members.

As an Association, our purpose is...

- To work for the advancement of education and the overall improvement of instructional opportunities for all students.
- To promote and encourage cooperation among civic bodies and organizations with the educational intent profession.
- To advocate and to promote the adoption of such personnel policies, ethical practices, and the development that marks a profession.
- To ensure that members are able to speak with a common voice on matters pertaining to the education profession and to present their individual and common interest before the administrative authorities of the Northwest Arctic Borough School District, Northwest Arctic Borough School Board, Advisory School Boards, NEA-Alaska, the National Education Association, and state and federal agencies.

Your membership financially supports us in our work. However, our true strength is in our active membership. I encourage you to regularly engage with your Site Rep, fellow members, and Executive Board. Our experiences in Rural Alaska are unique. We must unify and continue to work collectively to maintain high standards within our organization and profession for the betterment of our students. Your elected body can only do so much, but your engagement and feedback are what will help us determine areas of priority and bring our attention to the successes and areas of improvement in our region.

If you would like to find ways to be involved, have a question, or an idea, do not hesitate to reach out to me.

In Solidarity,

Tracy Bell

President
